Another week. Back to normal. The musical is over and went off well for the most part. I can finally return to a life of fun and leisure in the evenings. This amounts to lots of Madden 2006 (at least till preseason starts in a couple weeks), and lots of napping through movies. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a lesson in what I like to call “priorities.” Heh. Really though, my brain does feel like it needs time to unwind in a big way.
I should also buy some rabbit ears for my TV. The Chiefs’ preseason games are mostly on CBS, which isn’t the one channel I can pick up right now. Willie Roaf is considering retiring, which is sad. I know you probably don’t care, but you can be sad with me since I assure you, you should be. If he does, it’s not just a good player leaving, but the end of an era. It’s like before Derrick Thomas died *tear* and Neil Smith turned traitor. That was an era too. Our defense has never been the same since.
I’m getting glasses in a couple weeks. I go in the 7th for my exam. I think he’ll tell me I’m blind. This will not surprise me. Even though I see okay, I feel blind sometimes. And my eyes are frequently tired. I think they want to escape the tyranny of the body. But I don’t know what kind of frames to get. I haven’t been able to decide between something like some Buddy Holly type 50’s style frames, or like the more refined “frameless” frames. Really it’s been about 6 or 7 years since I’ve seen an eye doctor. I blame you. I found a really old pair of glasses a while back in my desk. They make everything look funny. This includes me.
I wish I had more interesting things to write about for you right now, but I really don’t, and I apologize. But don’t lose faith, if I have to shake someone down myself, I’ll find something amusing in the next couple days to go on and on about.

Some of you will notice my new profile picture. I thought I’d throw it up there for a little while. No, the kid isn’t mine you silly people, but I’ll discuss that in just one moment. If you watched my video blog from the other day, you might recall the little girl that tried to climb me backstage because she was "a sloth." This is her. Shes possible the coolest little kid I know. Not only is she a sloth on occasion, but she knows (and can sing) AC/DC songs. And she’s fricking articulate. I have no clue how old she is (under about 12 I have no ability to estimate age), but she’s very conscious about her lines in the show, and her singing and everything. She has a bright future ahead of her I predict. She went around and took pictures with everyone the other night and made cards for us.
On that note, in response to seeing that picture, a friend of mine told me I need to find a girl and have some kids, because I’d make a good dad. While I do not disagree in principle, having someone articulate that to me was a little scary. After all, I’m still young. Though fully able to commit to the right person, why should I feel need to rush into such a thing? I know she was half kidding, but still, it starts that little hamster in the wheel up in my skull. He’s a tired, worn out ol’ hamster, but I get a few spins out of him once in a while still. I guess this paragraph didn’t really develop much point to it….I think the hamster’s done for a while, so, sorry for the open ended thought. I think for now I’ll just stick to corrupting other people’s kids.
So….anyone need a sitter? >:-)
Friday night was a good time. Spent most of the night (early morning) out at a Christmas in July party. There was abundant food, which was a good place to start. Good friends, which is a good place to continue, and a gift exchange, which is agood place to finish. Apparently this is a yearly thing, though this is the first time I’ve had the chance to take part. I was warned ahead of time that the gift exchange (which takes place after all the kiddos get get booted out) can get somewhat raunchy. I can handle that. What did worry me was that right before we did it, the additional stipulation that you had to model anything apparel that you got…that one had me a little worried. As it turned out, it was far tamer than I had been led to believe…at least this year. Mine was really more of a grab bag of innocuous articles. Although there was a litle bungie cord in it that I might save for…later.
I cracked up at the gift I brought though. I didn’t really have enough time to go hunt down a gift or anything, so I mostly just grabbed a box and filled it with stuff. Like anything I could find. I will try to itemize it all for you: a 2003 phonebook, 2 candles (unused), a mini shoeshine kit (made in China), a hat, a picture of me (unsigned), a 30 year old bottle of some random wine (unopened and very undrinkable), a book light, a blank CD, an army hat, and a Pizza Hut reciept. I think that’s everything. It was funny because as she pulled the stuff out, it was like the bottomless box of uber-crap. I couldn’t hardly keep my composure with the CD though:
Sarah: "Is there like music or something on it?"
Me: "No, it’s blank!"
Granted, this isn’t nearly as funny reading it and I recognize that and am sorry, but at the time I thought it was hilarious. So did most everyone. Next year will be even better though. I will begin taking suggestions any time.
So I went to see Clerks II last night. I believe I mentioned a while back reading a review that nearly put the fear of god in me with regards to this movie. I have now decided to call shenanigans on the site that wrote it though. If you really feel the need read it, go here. Having seen it though, I think the article was either a joke, they saw a different film, or they’re just complete idiots. My money is on one and three. Yes, both of them. In reality, the site has almost no reviews on it, but I didn’t bother checking that originally. So, shenanigans. Shenanigans, shenanigans, shenanigans. Cruel and tragic shenanigans. I blame Shannon, she showed the "review" (shenanigans) to me originally. The movie was great. Was it the first one? No. Was it awesome anyway? Yes. Go see it, I shant spoil anything for you right now.
I really like Madden 2006. In case you were wondering.
I think I finally managed to learn something over this past week. What it is, I can’t particularly articulate just yet, but I know I learned a little something about me regardless. I think it could best be described either that I have compartmentalized some of my emotions down so far that some of them no longer even come into play in my personality under particular circumstances, or I made a breakthrough in attitudinal response handling (sounds cool huh?). I’m not sure which, if either, is the better prospect. And yes, I know that probably makes no sense, but when I feel there more to release on the matter I will. I’m just bringing back into focus some things that really weren’t, and I think that’s a good thing. Assuming I am interpreting things correctly.
I got my hands on a copy of Madden 2006 for the PC. I’m interested in checking it out, only by the time I have some free time to play it, I will probably forget, heh. I know, I’m a silly, silly boy. But one that loves his football. See, despite the fact that most of you forget, I am indeed a man. Or at the very least, enjoy manly things. I even own a hammer.
August 26th is a day that has been reserved for me next month. I just heard Caroline’s Spine is playing in Miami, OK that night. Not only have I set aside that day, I already took steps to secure tickets already. I’m going. Period. End of discussion. This is a glorious day, and I feel somewhat justified in exclaiming the following: WOO HOO! Yeah, you probably haven’t heard of these guys, and I forgive you this once. Now go vindicate yourself by listening to their MySpace.
Tonight will be interesting. Possibly fun. Maybe both. Hmm.
So, I now take my first step forward in the world of t3h intarweb. I completed my first video blog last night and got it uploaded. I apologize for it being a little long and lacking of fancy bells and whistles. Once the musical is done, I’ll put some more effort into my After Effecting in them. I’ll try to do one every couple weeks. Let me know what you think! Enjoy!
By the way, the pop machine at work gave me another free drink yesterday. That’s 4.
