Portfolio

Although I do not claim that design is my absolute strong point, I have done work over the years for a number of people, setting up sites or designing themes and layouts. Below are some examples of sites that I have done for others, though currently I am more focused on back end technology and consulting than design. Just jump down to go straight to some examples of my web design.

I do, however, do other things in the area of graphic design and photography. I maintain a comprehensive gallery of this work at DeviantArt, which you are welcome to browse through. That page covers a wide range of work that I have done. I have selected a few items which you can see below, but there is much more in the gallery, from drawings to button designs, photo restoration, and more.

JulieMenghini.com

JulieMenghini.com

This layout was designed in 2006 for the campaign efforts of Kansas State Representative Julie Menghini (D-KS). It utilized a single template theme running on the e107 content management system. The layout was designed with simplicity in mind, creating a site that could be quickly navigated and showed the most necessary information first.

Additional elements provided access to a photo gallery system designed in Flash, as well as a calendar of events to track appearances, speeches, et cetera.

RiotRocks.com

RiotRocks.com

This layout was designed for Riot Productions out of Independence, KS around 2002 or so, to be used for promotion of area concerts and connect to management information for local bands. Now defunct, the site featured a left-hand navigation template with fully custom designed graphics set on top of the Coranto content management system.

The site was developed as a gateway to not only concert promotion information, but also as a resource for band management and information tracking. These pages featured sub-templates for further customized appearances. The site also included an incorporated photo gallery and forum system as well.

SuperSatellite.com

SuperSatellite.com

This is an early predecessor to the current SuperSatellite you see now. Originally, SuperSatellite was designed as a culture commentary site with locally driven concert and event news, reviews, and articles. It featured a custom designed template that went through three iterations, with a homebrewed page templating script, phpBB forums, and calendaring system, all set on top of the Coranto CMS (Content Management System).

The original SuperSatellite.com enjoyed extensive success for a number of years as a popular spot for information on local events and talent, as well as well written content and humor. Traffic rankings consistently bested those of competing area sites.

CornersofBellevue.com

Corners of Bellevue

Corners of Bellevue was a local band in the area of Southeast Kansas for a period of a few years in the first part of the ‘00 decade. Their site design consisted of a primary template that was hosted through Angelfire’s paid hosting service, which dictated a need for a very basic concept because of scripting limitations. This also required their content pages had to be managed by the band as static files. No back end was used. Initial content transfer was done through me, with editing and revisions carried out through the site maintainer.

Thunder Country 103.5

Thunder Country 103.5 Concept

This layout was done as pure concept, and was never placed into a live site. The system was set up as a proof of concept and provided a new three column look and feel governed by e107, along with user registration and community interaction elements.
